Many industries are now requiring background checks of individuals as a prerequisite for employment. Background checks can be most efficiently initiated through electronic fingerprint submission to the California Department of Justice by a process called "Live Scan". All fingerprint impressions submitted to the DOJ must be taken by an individual who has been certified under the DOJ program.

Live scan refers to the process of capturing fingerprints directly into a digitized format as opposed to traditional ink and paper methods. Live scan systems have evolved from standalone capture devices to complex systems with integration to multiple databases. Images can now be captured, transmitted to a central location and/or interface with an Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) for identification processing.

Live scan systems provide a means for individuals to produce consistent high quality fingerprint images, thereby reducing rejection rates and saving time and money in processing and other related administrative costs. Live scan systems are used by law enforcement and military agencies for processing criminal fingerprint records and in government, commercial and international markets for applicant employment and civil background checks and border entry and exit control.

Our ID 500 fingerprint scanner  consistently produces distinct, high quality roll and slap prints that may be used for ten print searching and matching to determine prior arrests, criminal records, wants and warrants.

Fees ---

Government fees are determined by the requirements of your Request for LiveScan Form and are in addition to our fees.

Our rolling fee is                  $20.00
Data transmission fee is      $  2.00
Our total fee is                     $22.00

All of the applicable processing fees charged to comply with these agencies along with the our service fee of $22.00 will be collected by Bonsall Postal and Imaging at the time of processing.

Appointments are currently not necessary, LiveScan computers are closed down 15 minutes before our closing time.

You must have all of the following:
(1) the completed Request for Live Scan Service form (BCII-8016) [we can make necessary copies of your original form]
(2) a valid picture ID
(3) full payment is required before rolling  (we accept: cash, checks and most credit or debit cards

Your employer will provide the Request For LiveScan Form
